Fact Check: Do Housefly Transmit Coronavirus? Truth Behind The Viral Claim By Amitabh Bachchan

Claim: Houseflies can transmit coronavirus

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, citing a report by The Lancet on social media platforms, said that flies hovering in homes, markets, shops, and streets may also serve to spread the infection of coronavirus.

The veteran actor shared a video on Twitter, which has also been retweeted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his message on Wednesday, the actor said, “The country is battling with Covid-19. We all have a very important role to play in this fight. Recently, experts in China found that coronavirus can survive for several weeks in human feces.”

We dug more into this, and the truth behind the claim might shock you.

Ghanaian Health Physician, Dr. Patrick Aboye warns that coronavirus can be transmitted by household fluids, especially in dirty environments where these insects thrive greatly.

Dr. Aboye said that dirty surfaces with the virus could be transferred to the places where people live, which would affect the likelihood of people contracting it.

“That’s why we call clean surfaces routine and well,” he replied, asking if the house and mosquitoes could transmit coronavirus.

At the same time, western countries have not taken the Novel Coronavirus seriously, which has resulted in a massive outbreak in world power countries like Italy, Spain, Iran, and America. A national disaster has been announced in all these countries, and people are now forced to obey the law.

Result: Yes, houseflies can transmit the virus from one person to another.
