Almost five years have passed since NBC canceled the show Hannibal, created by Bryan Fuller, starring Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen. Despite the good reception the series received, it was eventually canceled because of low ratings.
However, after five years, the show’s rights were acquired by the streaming giant Netflix. And this made Hannibal one of the latest licensed TV series that Netflix has recently acquired in the United States.
After Netflix bought the rights to Hannibal, available since June 5 (only in the US) for the three seasons of this beautiful psychological series, fans of Doctor Lecter went into joy and many wonder if there will be a fourth season in the near future. So, here is everything we know about season four of Hannibal.
First, let us look what the show Hannibal is all about
Hannibal is based on the Thomas Harris novel “Red Dragon” from 1981. The story of Hannibal focuses on Will Graham. His unique way of thinking about anything allows him to empathize with anyone, including psychopaths. But while helping the FBI to track a particularly complex serial killer, he decides he could use some help and recruit the genius psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter. The two form a partnership and it appears that there is no villain they cannot catch together, but Lecter withholds a dark secret.
Speculations regarding the release of the fourth season of Hannibal
Unfortunately, there is still nothing certain whether the series will return for season 4 or not. But, the expectations of Hannibal season 4 is high. Even Mads Mikkelsen himself has expressed an interest in continuing Hannibal along with the rest of the staff.
There are no confirmations, but the entire cast seems very willing to continue with another season, and surely Bryan Fuller, who had said that he had not quit Hannibal 4, is not short of ideas.
