‘Game of Thrones’ is one of the most successful series of HBO which ended on May 19 after eight remarkable seasons, but as announced by its creator George RR. Martin that will not be the end of this fantasy universe. Although the most advanced prequel in its production was the one with Naomi Watts as the protagonist, the executives canceled the project at the end of October 2019, not being satisfied with the pilot.
However, the fantasy drama will have a spin-off. On Monday, September 16, George RR Martin announced that his most recent book, titled ‘Fire & Blood Vol. 1’ that tells the story of the Targaryen family, has now inspired HBO to make a new show.
“It’s also a prequel,” he wrote. “Set thousands of years after the series in the history of Westeros.”
Martin confirmed the participation of Ryan Condal, co-creator of the science fiction series “Colony”, and wrote that “he loved working with him”. Also, he warned fans that HBO has not yet ordered a pilot episode for the show, but that, if that happens, it will “scream from the rooftops.”
HBO confirmed that this project is still on the cards and will have the title ‘House of the Dragon’.
‘House of the Dragon’ will be set 300 years before events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and will narrate “the beginning of the end for the Targaryen House”, the only surviving family of the ancient Valyrian civilization after its destruction.
This family has a long and complicated history, there is incest, madness, wars, dragons, betrayals, and much destruction, so seeing all that in a series would be very interesting, also, it could help us understand why Khaleesi lost her head at the end of the original show.
George RR. Martin did not want to reveal many details about it, but he said he has a script and a bible, and both are excellent, top-notch, exciting. He also confirmed the return of some important characters “I can tell you there will be dragons” he wrote. “Everyone else has said that, so why not me?”
The spin-off on the Targaryen still does not have actors or creative team because it is not yet in the production process.
‘House of the Dragon’ first prequel to ‘Game Of Thrones’, which will focus on the Targaryen family, has no official release date but as for now, it will be part of WarnerMedia’s new streaming service, HBO Max.
