MS Dhoni, a.k.a Captain Cool. Dhoni captioned a video on Instagram last Saturday, “from 1929 hrs, consider me retired” and thus, India has lost a big name from its international cricket team.

Officially, his last match in India team remains the semifinal of 2019 ICC world cup in which India lost by 18 runs against New Zealand. In that match, Dhoni scored 50 runs off 72 balls and was then run out. It was his 350th ODI and coincidently, he was run out in his first ODI as well. However, he will still be playing in the IPLs as Chennai Super King’s captain. As Captain of India, Dhoni has bagged several trophies, well here a few of them.

5 best victories under Captain Cool

1. 2007 World Cup 20-20 in South Africa.

Playing against Pakistan in the finals, always an exciting one to watch. Pakistan needed 13 runs off an over, Captain cool decides to send Joginder Sharma. Joginder not being so experienced had collected doubts from all the team-mates. However, despite the odds proves Dhoni to be right and takes the crucial wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq. Hence, won the match by 5 runs and bagged the trophy home.

2. 2008 Commonwealth Bank Series.

India had never won a limited over series in Australia but all changed under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. It was the first time when India had won their first-ever ODI series in Australia.

3. ICC world cup 2011.

Well, whoever is at least 18 years of age right now must remember how they celebrated when India won the ICC world cup 2011. It was one hell of a win. India, under the captaincy of Dhoni, pulled off the highest run chase in the history of ICC world cup.

Along with iron-will 97 from Gautam Gambhir, captain cool scored a flawless 91 unbeaten and celebrated the victory along with the country. That match is unforgettable.

4. 2013 Champions Trophy.

Defeated England by 5 runs to claim the Trophy and hence, Dhoni became the first Captain to win all ICC championships. This win certainly marked a page in the history of international cricket. I bet not only Indias but people from around the world will remember him as long as they remember cricket.

5. 2016 Asia cup T-20

It was the first time when Asia Cup was held in T-20 format and India proved its worth by bringing that trophy home.

Under his captaincy, India has claimed several achievements in Cricket.  India topped the rankings in all formats at one time and it was also the No. 1 team in test cricket, something which was never achieved before by India.
