The award-winning crime series Peaky Blinders, created by Steven Knight, is all set to come up with its sixth season. It is a British period drama, revolves around the Shelby crime family during the period of post World War I. The family is based upon the Urban youth gang under the same name, who was active in the city from the 1890s to early 1900.
Initially, the show was supposed to get wrapped after season five, but due to it’s a vast fanbase, Knight thought it would be a shame to end series this soon.
According to previous release schedules, it is expected that season six shall premiere at the end of this year or early 2021. The filming of this season has already begun in early 2020 and shall get wrapped up this summer.
The finale of season five was an open ending with Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, losing his mind and poised to kill himself after he failed to kill Oswald Mosley, played by Sam Claflin, who is confirmed to return in season six. Polly Gray played by Helen McCrory, Arthur Shelby played by Paul Anderson, Ada Thorne played by Sophie Rundle and Michael Gray played by Finn Cole, are all set to return. According to inside sources, there are many surprises to come in terms of the cast as well.
According to the sources, much of the filming for the new season is done in Space Studio Hub in Manchester.
There is a lot more to come in the upcoming season, as there are so many questions to be answered. The series has picked up the award for Best Drama, at the National Television Awards, edging out all other shows from the line.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the sixth season to get premiered. Like rest other seasons, even the upcoming installment shall tune in Netflix after it gets aired in BBC One. Stay tuned to get further updates.
