One of the well-known historical drama series, Sanditon is expected to soon come up with its second season. It has been transformed by Andrew Davies, as it is based on the incomplete novel written by Jane Austen, under the same title. It is a drama series that first premiered on 25th August 2019 on ITV Network.
Initially, it was released in the United Kingdom, and later it got re-released on PBS in the United States in January 2020. Later Netflix acquired the streaming rights of the series. The prevalence of the essence of the novel can be seen in the first episode of the series. The story was left incomplete with 24000 words as Austen passed away in 1817.
The plot follows the story of Charlotte Heywood who to move on with her life and forget her past experiences, decides to settle in a sea-side town named Sanditon. Charlotte is a free-spirited woman, takes great interest in the whereabouts of the town. She soon discovers some selfish secrets of the residents that might put the future of the town in danger.
Has The Series Been Renewed For Another Season?
The series has not been renewed for another season. There have been no official announcements regarding the renewal of the series from the makers since 2019. According to reports, the series even though being popular, has not managed to grab enough audiences. And some of the fans of Jane Austen, have revealed that Austen never gave a sad ending to her stories or novels. Besides, way too many physical scenes had been shown that was very much opposed to the actual manuscript.
Maybe later on the series might get renewed for another season but for the time being, it seems off the table. We hope to get hold of some updates soon until then, stay tuned!
