Shameless, Showtime’s longest-running series will come to an with the 11th and final season. The show’s depiction of the Gallagher family living its best with the worst of resources has touched thousands of hearts over the years. It is one of the best shows on Showtime and gained more popularity by streaming on Netflix.
Shameless Season 11 Development Plans
Even after a 10 year run without a break, the showrunners are not tired. In January this year, it was announced that Shameless will return for one last season. We could have watched the 11th season already if it was not for the COVID-19 crisis. Plans were to release the show in the summer of 2020 but it has now been postponed to 2021.
The production was supposed to begin on the 19th of March as said by Shameless star Emma Kenney. However, it had to almost all other shows and movies in the line of halted production due to the COVID crisis.

We were supposed to start production on our 11th and final season today, but unfortunately/ fortunately, we have been shut down indefinitely until this health crisis is over. ❤️ 💔 so here’s a lil throwback . Missin my Gallagher’s 🥺❤️ (also ayeee binge is this quarantine 🤷♀️ season 1-9 on Netflix!) stay safe and isolated everyone!
Rumour has it that the show has already resumed the production, we haven’t received an official update yet. To be precise September 8th is the known date of resumed production. However, Shameless season 11 is expected to release by the summer of 2021.
Upcoming development in the storyline
As it is supposed to be the final season, we are hopefully looking at a happy ending with all problems cured. Although not much is known about the plot of the next season, we might see it continuing from where it left in the last season. The main focus could be the problems between the newlywed Ian and Mickey and his father Terry. However, that would ultimately resolve in the end.
Further, the next season may follow the stories of Lip and Debbie and thus, bring an end to their problems as well.
