Sherlock Season 5: Why A BBC And Netflix Release Is Not Possible?

Who hasn’t fallen in love with Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock? Fans have been eagerly awaiting for some future updates regarding the release and other details of Season five on BBC and Netflix.

Created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the crime series is influenced by the detective novel of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. This award-nominated series has been praised all over because of its superb quality of acting, writing and direction. It won in three categories at the Primetime Emmy Awards. The show was also honoured with Peabody Award in 2011.

There is no official announcement regarding the release date of Season five yet. It has already been three long years, and still, there is no word from the side of BBC or Netflix. The series ended in 2017 on a happy note, and if it gets renewed then, it will be the beginning of the next chapter, Chapter two. The show can be expected to return in 2022 or 2023 though there are no signs of renewal of the show.

In case of the cast, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman shall undoubtedly return as Holmes and Dr Watson. In the previous season, it was also revealed that Holmes has a sister too, Eurus Holmes played by Sian Brooke. Brooke might also reprise her role in the new season.  New characters shall get added in the new season based on Chapter two of the novel.

Cumberbatch and Freeman, both have shown interest in continuing the series. After the premiere of Season four, nothing was mentioned about season five’s renewal in future. Maybe it will be renewed. Let’s hope for the best.

No official trailer has been launched yet, but there are many fan-made teasers on YouTube. Both the lead actors are busy with other series for the time being. To get further updates on Season five, Stay tuned!
